Dear colleagues,
We’re excited to invite you to the 4th International Rupicapra Sympos ium, happening September 25–27, 2025 in Konitsa, a stunning little mountain town in northwestern Greece — right next to the country’s largest chamois population (yes, we picked the perfect spot!).
This is gonna be a chance for chamois people — researchers, conservationists, field folks, wildlife lovers — to get together, share what we’ve been working on, and swap stories, ideas, and insights about these incredible mountain animals.
Over two days, we’ll dive into everything from:
• Genetics and taxonomy
• Health and physiology
• Behavior and ecology
• And of course, conservation and management! We’re especially keen to hear from early-career researchers, and we’re all about keeping things inclusive — with a good gender balance and people from all over the map. Because collaboration only works when everyone’s at the table.

Also, the symposium is backed by the IUCN Caprinae Specialist Group, so you know it’s legit!
The event’s happening at the Konitsa Municipality Event Hall. The website’s online! And you can also catch updates on our Twitter and Facebook pages.
So, if you’re into chamois (or mountain wildlife in general), come hang out with us. It’s gonna be fun, and it’s happening in one of the most beautiful parts of Greece.
We’d love to see you there!
Best regards,
The organizing committee of the IV Rupicapra Symposium
