Dear colleague,<\/p>\n

as you may know, a group of about 500 researchers of varying dignity
\n(everything from bachelor’s students to professors and industrial
\nresearchers) have written a letter to the EU commission (1,2) urging the
\ncommission to consider “climate smart forestry”. The letter is, in fact,
\npoorly conceived industry propaganda, with multiple errors and
\nmisconceptions. They urge the EU not to protect more forest (since it
\n“has no further benefits for biodiversity”), they mix up carbon flows
\nwith carbon debt and so on.<\/p>\n

A few of us have written a rebuttal letter that we intend to submit to
\nthe EU. Would you please consider signing it? Our letter is in a google
\ndocument below, that is open for signing. I would like to encourage you
\nto spread this to those researchers that you think might consider
\nsigning, preferably in relevant areas such as biology or climate science.<\/p>\n
